A Decade of Excellence: Masuda Middle School Students Sweep State Culinary & Leadership Awards

From April 24–26, 2026, our students joined over 1,200 participants at the Riverside Convention Center for the annual State Leadership Conference. This wasn't just a competition; it was a chance for our students to demonstrate "21st-century skills" like project management, public speaking, and creative problem-solving.

We are thrilled to announce the results of our talented competitors:

  • 2nd Place: Gemma Brown (Gold Rank)

  • 3rd Place: Avery Weed (Gold Rank)

Creative Cakes

  • 3rd Place: Jason Vu (Silver Rank)

  • 4th Place: Melanie Kieu (Silver Rank)

In addition to the competitive events, we celebrated several students for their individual leadership journeys. Jason Vu, Avery Weed, and Gemma Brown were awarded the Red Rose Degree, recognizing them as they begin their journey into leadership. Camila Hernandez, Melanie Kieu, and Marianne DiGaetano earned their Chapter Degree, which honors their continued growth and dedication to the program.

Congratulations to all of our competitors and to Mrs. McLemore for ten years of inspiring Masuda students to lead and create!
